How it works

In this class, you will be creating a floating piece of art on the surface of the water and capturing the swirling, ever-morphing moments as prints on ceramic coasters or on a silk handkerchief. In this highly present, highly engaging experience, participants will connect with nature, embrace the Japanese concept of wabi sabi, and gain a new understanding of fluid dynamics as they incorporate natural forces such as breath and vibration into our art to create visual harmony.

Sake makes an unexpected chemical reaction with the ink and is used in the art work itself, so those who don't drink can still enjoy the experience fully. At the end of the experience, everyone will walk away with a renewed sense of wonder and hand-dipped coasters and handkerchiefs! Available virtually, IRL, and in hybrid events. Kits can be shipped to anywhere in the world. US domestic standard shipping included in price, expedited shipping and international shipping additional.

Depending on the size of the event and the flow of the event, each participant can have their own station or 2 people can share a station, or we can set up 6-10 stations at a long table and people can come and go.

Each station will have the following supplies:

  • Sumi Inks Trays
  • 2 Brushes
  • White Ceramic Coasters
  • Cork Bottoms for coasters
  • Silk handkerchief
  • Glove
  • Paper Towels
  • Optional: 6oz Bushido Sake.
