How it works

This tasting is BYO! Purchase any three wines and cheeses and we'll show you how to explore them as well as how to identify what you like and why so you can buy and pair with confidence.

You'll learn how to recognize and describe the tastes, aromas, and flavors in a variety of wines and cheeses, and uncover the science behind pairing wine and food. We'll discuss why they were chosen, the varietal, what they have in common, their terroir and notes as well as how to use a tasting wheel. We'll go over tasting, focusing on the impact each wine's location and the grape blend has on its flavor profile. Next, we'll talk about the cheese each participant bought.

We'll discuss what makes each cheese unique and the qualities that come from the milk choice and aging process, tasting as we go. Then we'll combine the two experiences and experiment with pairing each cheese with the wine varieties. Guests will have plenty of time to ask detailed questions. Guests will leave class with a new understanding of how to select, enjoy and describe both wine and cheese, and how to pair them like a pro.

Your Sommelier:

Peter Klann is an International Wine Guild accredited sommelier and wine and food pairing specialist, and the founder and CEO of Little Raven Vineyards. He'd love to talk wine with you.
