Frederick Farm Goat Rescue and Sanctuary is committed to providing a loving home to as many goats in need of rescue as we can. We love sharing these playful spirits with guests to promote empathy and understanding of the species, as well as encourage the happiness and well-being of both the goats and the humans that meet them! All proceeds benefit the sanctuary, and in turn, the goats themselves.

Your host, Meagan Frederick, MA, LCAT, ATR-BC, CCLS, HTR was trained as an Art Therapist, Child Life Specialist and Horticultural Therapist, specializing in work with chronically and terminally ill children and adolescents in the New York City area. During her career of over 25 years, she recognized the strong healing power of animals and was involved in several phases of animal-assisted therapy with the populations with which she worked. Although goats are not the most widely used animals in therapy, there is an undoubted healing quality in spending time with these sentient creatures and goats in animal-assisted therapy programs is gaining popularity. We encourage you to come visit in person and see how your heart feels after spending some time getting to know our amazing goats.

For virtual experiences, our very silly side shows as we get close-up views of our adorable and quirky goats, while venturing on a quiz show style game of ridiculous goat fun facts, filling in moments of silence with goat puns and goat jokes that the most seasoned dad-joke-kind-of-person can appreciate. ;)

As a young girl, Meagan Frederick dreamed of being Snow White.....the woodland princess who communicated with the animals and whom the animals adored. Later, that looked a little more like Dr. Doolittle, a little more practical. Mostly because she can't really sing like Snow White. When that didn't work out, and lacking the skill set for becoming a veterinarian, she informally became the rescuer of all living creatures in her path. Often because animals found their way to her. Kittens dropped from the undercarriage of trucks at a stoplight in front of her car, puppies were discovered roadside in threat of being poisoned, stray dogs laid at her feet on island vacations, not to mention mice, birds, fish. Oh, and goats. They wandered up the driveway of now, Frederick Farm, in 2013 on a random Fall afternoon. Now home to fifteen very loved (and very spoiled) goats (and counting), Frederick Farm is dedicated to maintaining a home and sanctuary to as many goats (and chickens and dogs) as is manageable (and that Meagan’s husband will tolerate without threat of divorce). No, she did not dream of having multiple goats. But once you meet them and get to know them (and know about the horrors of animal agriculture and why they are in need of rescue and sanctuary) I think you would know why Frederick Farm is now operational and growing!
