Virtual Chocolate Tastings

Virtual Chocolate Tasting FAQs

• What is virtual chocolate tasting?

A virtual chocolate tasting is an online experience led by a chocolatier, chocolate sommelier, or a similar host who will lead participants through a chocolate tasting. The host will typically teach the participants about the history of chocolate, the different types of chocolate, what pairs well with chocolate, or how chocolate is made.

• Is a virtual chocolate tasting event good for team building?

Virtual chocolate tastings are great events for teams with a sweet tooth. Whether your team is spread out or all in the same office, virtual chocolate tastings are a fun and entertaining experience for the whole team combining some sweet treats and some new knowledge to make for a memorable experience. Your team will learn something new together, interact with the event host, and participate in a memorable experience which increases team building and team bonding.

• What do I need for a virtual chocolate tasting experience?

Not all chocolate tastings are the same. The host will send the chocolate to each participant before the event, usually with some pairings such as fruit, nuts, or cheese. Depending on the event the chocolate may also be paired with wine, beer, or whiskey. The host may suggest an optional palate cleanser such as bread or crackers but participants are not asked to go purchase items before the tasting.

• Do we make chocolate in a chocolate tasting experience?

In most of our events, the chocolate is provided so you are not making chocolate but we do have some options where you are melting the chocolate and applying it to other food items. Many of the chocolate tastings we offer are paired with food or wine.

• Who does the chocolate tasting?

Each guest of the chocolate tasting will receive a package or need to pick up items at the store to participate in the event.  The tasting is held virtually but all can enjoy the tasting with their own chocolate.  All guests will learn about the history of chocolate and information on how to properly taste chocolate.

• How does virtual chocolate tasting work?

A virtual chocolate tasting is usually an hour long and a chocolate expert guides the guests through the tasting.  During the tasting, everyone will get to enjoy chocolate, learn about the history of chocolate and how to properly taste chocolate.  Most events are interactive and a great team building activity.

• How to have the best virtual chocolate tasting experiences?

All of the chocolate experts that host the chocolate tasting experiences will guide you through the event but here are some of the things to expect.  Chocolate, like wine, has lots of subtlies.  There are chocolates that contain milk, dark chocolates, and others with specific flavoring.  Each one has unique properties that you can detect in the tasting.  During the tasting, you will use all of your senses.  First, feel the texture of the chocolate, look at the color and finally use your sense of smell.  Lastly, try a piece and taste all of the subtleties.
